How to Flush the Irrigation Line

The most popular method of flushing the irrigation system is as follows:

Step 1. Open all of the valves on the vineyard block to be flushed.
Step 2. Flush the lines.
Step 3. Turn water off at source.
Step 4. Close all valves.

Alternate Method:
Step 1. Open each dripline valve individually.
Step 2. Let the water flow.
Step 3. SNAP SHUT THE VALVE QUICKLY.
Note: If the valve is closed slowly there may be an opportunity for water to penetrate under the O-ring which will make it difficult to secure the valve shut.

WARNING:
It is most important not to leave the valve in an open position otherwise the UV can damage the O-ring. In addition the valve sealing seat will be exposed to wind blown dust and dirt. If this occurs you will need to apply a water based silicone or vegetable oil on the sealing face.

When the valves are flushed with water,
the water acts as a lubricant.
